![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Recall that Jay likened his mind to a Lexus on "Can I Live" ("My mind is infested, with sick thoughts that circle like a Lexus"). The album opener "The Message" includes the first of many perceived subliminal shots at Jay Z: "Lex with TV sets the minimum." What does this line have to do with the Brooklyn rapper? Well, Jay Z's first album sports several references to Lexus. Nas then sent subliminal on his sophomore album 'It was written'. There a lot of different ways this beef may have started, but let's start out by pointing out that before the beef in 1996 there were many rumors of Nas appearing on Jay Z's debut album 'Reasonable Doubt' but instead Nas was sampled on the song Dead Presidents II where he takes the line "I'm out for presidents to represent me." From Nas' song 'The world is yours'. Arguably the greatest beef of all time when two of raps heavy weights faced off, if you do not know the story of Jay Z and Nas you should probably not be on this app. ![]()
